ARE GREENPAN PRODUCTS FREE FROM HARMFUL CHEMICALS?

GreenPan frying pans lack harmful chemicals and toxins such as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), also known as forever chemicals, as well as PFOA, lead, and cadmium.

GreenPan products came onto the culinary scene in 2007, boasting a reimagined and healthier ceramic non-stick coating. Founders Jan Helskens and Wim De Veirman developed GreenPan after learning how toxic most traditional non-stick could be. Since the company’s inception, GreenPan has revolutionised the green culinary cookware industry with a number of beautiful products and collections .

WHAT NON-STICK COATING DOES GREENPAN USE?

Every GreenPan product is coated with Thermolon™. The groundbreaking technology starts with a derivative of sand. The base ingredient for Thermolon™ is Silicon and does not contain PTFE. Thermolon™ is made from inorganic ingredients, meaning it is safe to use in contact with all foods, and can be safely heated to 450°C and will not emit toxic fumes when overheated.

Thermolon™ was tested by third-party labs and is certified safe according to USA Food & Drug Administration, German LFGB, Swiss government, and KTR standards.

You won’t find PFAS in our innovative ceramic non-stick coating, Thermolon™. Most traditional non-stick coating is made from plastic synthetics and can have a vast environmental impact. According to the University of Auckland, "The presence of PFAS in New Zealand wastewaters, coastal waters, and surface waters has been confirmed". This motivates us to continue working towards a better and greener future for cookware.

We own our factory, so we know every component of what goes into our products. We make our coating and pans PFAS-free. And, compared to the curing phase for traditional non-stick, 60% less CO2 is created during the curing phase for our ceramic non-stick.

Thermolon™ has helped change the cookware game, allowing you to cook with confidence with GreenPan.

GREENPAN’S SUSTAINABILITY PRACTICES

We focus on the betterment of the environment, and that drives our company’s sustainability efforts. Our GreenPan-owned factory was recognised as one of the best for social and environmental standards.

We re-engineered our manufacturing, minimising waste from our coating process. And we own a wastewater treatment facility, so the water used in production is treated and reused.

Part of GreenPan’s sustainability practices are our "eco-friendly" pans with detachable handles. These pans are shipped in boxes made from 90% recycled cardboard, which are 50% smaller than our remailer boxes, resulting in reduced CO2 emissions. Moreover, these pans are designed for easy recycling.
